Frequently asked questions
What is the first step you need to follow in order to start therapy?
Just start through ACTION, start now by clicking schedule a session or contact me on 07810670794.
How do you schedule a session?
Start by clicking schedule a session and I will contact you as soon as possible to set up a session. You can also contact me on 07810670794.
What happens in the first session?
The first session is an intake session. It will involve the initial paperwork covering the contract and privacy.
This first session will provide an opportunity for us both to see how we feel working together. The therapeutic relationship is vital to the success of the treatment. It is important that you feel comfortable enough to open up to me as a therapist.
We will discuss whether the help I can offer is enough to support you in your journey.
How long will a therapy session last?
Each session will usually be 50 minutes. Sometimes it is flexible, and it can be discussed with me before the session.
What days /hours is Independent Personal Therapy open? What are the prices?
Monday to Thursday from 19:00 to 21:00 - £50 per session
Friday /Saturday: from 10:00 to 20:00 - £50 per session
Sunday -only if necessary, scheduled in advance - £75 per session
If you are unable to pay for the sessions but still feel that you will want to make an investment in yourself, we can agree a payment plan that might work for you.
How regularly do you need to have therapy session?
Usually, I suggest weekly or once every two weeks. However, this depends on your personal requirements.
What does hypnosis feel like?
There is no fixed hypnotised feeling. Every person reacts differently to hypnosis. Many people feel at ease and aware of their surroundings, as if in a relaxed daydream. Hypnosis can make you feel deeply relaxed, decompressed and calmer.
Can you unlock your potential with hypnotherapy?
Concentration and mental focus are critical aspects to succeed in any activities, especially in the workplace. With the help of hypnosis you can learn different relaxation techniques; you can manage negative thoughts and reinforce self-belief.
Are hypnotherapists regulated?
As per today, hypnotherapists are not currently regulated in the UK. However, there are professional bodies where hypnotherapists can join, and whose process verifies proof of relevant qualifications and insurance cover.
I am a member of the National Society of Talking therapies and the Complimentary and Natural Health Council. This means I have to undertake regular supervision and have professional insurance. I am committed to continued professional development.
Does Independent Personal Therapy take insurance?
I have chosen not to work with insurance companies at this time. The website will be updated if this changes.
Are the sessions confidential?
Rest assured, everything we discuss together during your therapy sessions is completely confidential. The same applies to Zoom and telephone discussions, although I cannot guarantee security of internet or phone connections.
Will confidentiality ever be broken?
As I abide by the ethical framework of NSTT, CNHC and UKCP, I am required to have regular supervision with an accredited UCKP supervisor. This allows me to provide you the best support and care I possibly can. As such, during these supervisions, I may discuss your case with my supervisor.
Whilst confidentiality is of upmost importance and I endeavour not to share your personal information with others without your permission, there are certain conditions upon which this confidentiality may need to be broken. This includes risk of suicide, child abuse or intentions of serious harm to others. It is also my legal obligation to report terrorism, potential radicalisation, money laundering and female genital mutilation to the appropriate authorities.
When do I end the therapy sessions?
You are under no obligation to attend a minimum or maximum number of sessions. We will review the duration of the therapy based on where you are in terms of achieving your goals and decide a suitable end point accordingly.
What is the policy on cancellations?
If you need to miss the appointment, you must inform me a minimum of 48 hours in advance. Otherwise, a 50% fee is payable.
What happens if I become suddenly unavailable?
If something urgent and important happens requiring me to cancel the appointment, I will try and inform you at least 72 hours in advance. However, if I become suddenly unavailable and unable to contact you myself, my supervisor who is UKCP accredited, will be able to access your contact details in order to ensure future provision of care.
Why choose me?
You will always be accepted while working with me. I am a strong believer that once a person is completely accepted without judgement, using compassion and empathy, you can give up your issues and face your true self. I believe that everyone has goodness, unicity, and enough resources to become who they want to. I believe in you, but you must also believe in yourself.
What about in the following sessions?
The sessions are usually informal, comfortable, thought provoking and soul searching.
During these sessions I will share some of my thoughts and interpretations with you.

Why I do not publish client testimonials?
While I am always happy when I receive cards and emails from my clients, I decide to keep the information confidential, hence I do not publish testimonials.
Therapy does not have standardised results; it depends on various factors including the characteristics of the client, their personal situation, the challenges which arise and the susceptibility towards change. Because therapy is done by a case-by-case basis, what may work for one person might not necessarily work for another, therefore testimonials can lead to false hope and unrealistic expectations.
My intention is to help you become your best version by supporting you and in doing so, respecting, and maintaining confidentiality. In order to verify the accuracy of testimonials it would require a breaching of this essential confidentiality. If you were to publish a testimonial, I hope you appreciate and understand why I will not respond or engage with it – as I seek to always maintain your confidentiality.
Please be aware that I am not publishing client testimonials, I consider that not to be congruent with my own values and I abide to UKCP ethical guidelines.
