Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
Irritable bowel syndrome is a common condition that affects the digestive systems, it may cause symptoms like cramps, bloating, feeling sick(nausea) diarrhoea and constipation.
Having IBS can be very frustrating and sometimes it can have a big impact on your personal, social, and professional life.
The causes are unknown at the moment and it is linked to things like food passing through your gut too quickly or too slows, stress, over sensitive nerves in the gut, and a family history of IBS.
There are researches that shows that people with IBS have tendency to:
Take on too much responsibility,
Consisting of putting others first,
Neglecting own needs.
Other research shows that people with IBS are less assertive and less likely to take time for themselves because they would feel guilty and selfish doing so. They may feel overly responsible for others and take on other people’s problems too readily, having a lack of good interpersonal boundaries. Perfectionism and irrational beliefs reflected through self-talk, such as “I should, I must,” can also impose undue stress on the individual, which may or may not be recognised.

Hypnotherapy is a relaxing experience, and it is well known that IBS is made worse by stress. Relaxation in IBS can and will bring massive benefits.
